Equine-Assisted Therapy

A different way of listening to yourself

Equine-assisted therapy invites you into a slower, more embodied way of healing. Rather than relying on words alone, this work happens in relationship with horses, whose sensitivity and presence naturally bring awareness to what is happening beneath the surface.

Horses respond honestly to nervous system states, emotional cues, and patterns of connection. They do not analyze or judge. They notice. That makes them powerful partners in therapeutic work focused on trust, regulation, and authentic connection.

No riding is involved. Sessions take place on the ground, through guided interaction, observation, and reflection.

Who this work can support

Equine-assisted therapy may be a good fit if you:
  • Feel disconnected from your body or emotions despite years of insight
  • Struggle with trust, boundaries, or relationship patterns
  • Carry trauma, grief, medical experiences, or chronic stress in your body
  • Find traditional talk therapy limiting or exhausting
  • Want a gentler, experiential way to explore what you are holding
Clients often come to this work feeling stuck, guarded, or unsure how to access what they are feeling. The presence of the horses helps bypass overthinking and brings clarity through lived experience.

How equine-assisted sessions work

In a session, we work together at the farm with one or more horses. Activities may include standing near the horses, walking with them, grooming, or simply observing how they respond as you move, speak, and relate.

The work is not about controlling the horse or doing something “right.” It is about noticing patterns.

You may begin to see how you approach closeness, how you respond to uncertainty, where you tense or withdraw, and what helps you feel more grounded. These moments become starting points for reflection, nervous system regulation, and integration.

I am present throughout the session, helping translate what emerges into insight you can carry back into your daily life.

What can shift through this work

Clients often report that equine-assisted therapy helps them:

Feel more grounded and present in their bodies

Build trust, both internally and in relationships

Recognize patterns of people-pleasing, control, or shutdown

Regulate anxiety and emotional overwhelm

Access emotions that felt out of reach through talking alone

This work is especially supportive for people who feel “stuck in their heads” or disconnected from their instincts.

How this fits with other services

Equine-assisted therapy can be a standalone experience or part of a broader healing process. Some clients combine farm-based sessions with ongoing somatic therapy or Reiki, using the horses to deepen insight and embodiment.

We will talk together about whether this offering feels like the right starting place for you.

Practical details

Equine-assisted sessions are offered on select Fridays and weekends at the farm. These sessions are private-pay and not billable to insurance.

You do not need prior experience with horses. All activities are guided, optional, and adapted to your comfort level.

If you are curious about equine-assisted therapy and want to explore whether it’s a good fit, I invite you to schedule a consultation. We can talk through what you’re navigating and decide together how to begin.
