Somatic Therapy for Adults in Santa Barbara & Online Across California
You’ve spent years understanding your story.
You can explain your patterns, name your trauma, and tell people exactly why you react the way you do. But knowing hasn’t fully changed how you feel. Your body still startles, freezes, or floods. Your relationships still land on the same sore spots. You’re exhausted from cycling through the same loops and wondering why the insights haven’t translated into real, lasting relief.
Why this is happening
Talk therapy can be an important part of healing, but it often focuses on the mind—thoughts, beliefs, stories. Traumatic stress and long-term patterns live in the nervous system and body as much as they do in memory. When your system never had the chance to fully process what happened, it keeps scanning for danger and reacting as if the past is still present. Somatic therapy helps your body complete old responses and learn that it’s safe enough to experience life differently now.

How somatic therapy can help
In somatic therapy with me, you can:
Learn to notice and work with body cues instead of feeling hijacked by them
Build more capacity to stay present when big emotions or sensations arise
Unwind old survival patterns like over-functioning, freezing, or appeasing
Repair relational patterns shaped by early attachment wounds or trauma
Feel more at home in your body and less like you’re always bracing for impact
What sessions look like
Sessions are 50 minutes and can be held in my Santa Barbara office or online for adults located anywhere in California.
We’ll talk, but we’ll also slow down enough to notice what’s happening in your body as you share—tightness, breath, impulses to move, numbness, warmth. I may invite gentle experiments like tracking sensations, orienting to the room, grounding through the feet, or imagining new responses in relationships.
You’re always in charge of the pace. We don’t force you into memories or experiences you’re not ready for. Instead, we build safety and resilience, one small step at a time.
